PIONEER HERBAL PRODUCTS OF THE MONTH APRIL 2011
Nothing cheers me up better than the recent good weather; however with the spring sunshine I've also noticed the arrival of the midges… The little blighters can certainly spoil the joys of spring for many of us!
So, I thought it would be useful to introduce the PIONEER NATURAL OILS FOR ANIMAL CARE, and the MIDGE BITE BALM as this month's products.
Natural Oils for Animal Care
We intend our Natural Oils for Animal Care to be used to assist with the management of a range of animal care problems. These include:
· fungal attack on the keratin of the feet of horses, sheep, pigs and goats, particularly for white line area, footrot and thrush;
· fungal attack on the skin (such as creeping dandruff of dogs);
· severe bites from flying or crawling insects;
· minor wounds, cuts, scrapes, rips and tears of animal skin, and
· for general reduction of insect activity.
It can be used as a washdown, sponge bath or as a spray for all animals.
Pioneer Natural Oils for Animal Care is not marketed as an insecticide or pesticide, and none of the ingredient oils are banned substances on any published HSE, EU, FEI or DEFRA list.
The product comes as a cost effective Mix-it-yourself kit; the contents make TEN X 750ml bottles of liquid (all oils, emulsifier and 750ml bottle supplied). The RRP of the kit is £15 - that makes it £13.50 for the Ladyleys members with your 10% discount. At £1.30 per 750ml bottle, that is seriously good value!
Anti Midge Balm
If your horse takes a particularly bad reaction to midge bites, you may need a little extra help in addition to the Natural Oils. The Anti Midge Balm is applied sparingly across the entire area affected by midge bites. It is made of high quality herbs and oils that are soothing for the affected, itchy skin, as well as including oils with excellent insect repellent properties. As with all Pioneer Herbal Balms, it should be applied to clean skin (Pioneer Liquid Soap is an excellent precursor).
Covering the area is recommended. Remember that most midge types cloud in the early morning to catch the warming rays of the sun, and again at dusk, when the temperature starts to fall. These are periods of maximum insect activity and the susceptible horses should be protected.
Midge Bite Balm cost £15 for a 250ml bottle - £13.50 for Ladyleys members!
Herbal Liquid Soap and Scab Softening Balm
I thought that since we're all still suffering the after effects of the horrible muddy winter, this would be a useful one to start with. If your horse is struggling with mudfever or rain scald, this will be the combination to combat the problem! Use the Herbal Liquid Soap first to thoroughly cleanse the skin, then allow the area to dry before applying the balm.
Usual RRP is £8 for a 250ml bottle of Herbal Liquid Soap + £10 for a 180ml tub of Scab Softening Balm = total £18
With your 10 % Ladyleys member's discount, that's £7.20 + £9 = total £16.20 - and don't forget I can deliver free to Ladyleys, plus all March orders will get a freebie Lip salve

Hello and welcome to the page of Pioneer Herbal, proud sponsors of Ladyleys Riding Club and the Ladyleys Dressage league!
It was great to see such a big turnout at the AGM where I had the honour to present a Pioneer Product Basket to the overall winner of the Ladyleys Dressage league 2010, Annalise Noble. As the Scottish distributor for Pioneer Herbal and a member of Ladyleys Riding Club for many years, I am now happy to announce that Pioneer Herbal will continue to sponsor the Ladyleys Dressage League; Pioneer Product Basket will be an annual price, won by the overall winner of the dressage league (based on highest points from Preliminary level upwards, and in the event of a tie, the winner will be decided based on the highest overall % throughout the league). The Pioneer Product Basket is a superb prize, worth approx. £200, and contains pretty much all the products you'll need for your horse and yourself in a year; even your dog gets his own bottle of herbal shampoo!
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE COMPETING AT THE DRESSAGE LEAGUE THIS YEAR!!
There's more good news…
Pioneer Herbal will now offer a Member's discount to all members of Ladyleys Riding Club - you will get 10% off all equine products and the Chammar liquid soaps!!
The Equine range consists of :
· Herbal liquid soap, an excellent precursor for Pioneer Herbal Balms which is also Antifungal and includes insect repellent
· Antifungal hoof soap
· Excellent value DIY insect repellent kit based on Neem oil
· Anti Midge Balm
· Wound Balm with Tea Tree oil
· Antifungal hoof balm and paste, effective against thrush and white line disease

These soaps are seriously lush and packed full of soothing herbs and natural moisturisers - chamonile, calendula, shea butter, cocoa butter, lime oil and coconut oil to name but a few!
I will be able to deliver your orders free to Ladyleys, and as an introductory offer, all orders made in March 2011 will receive a free Pioneer lip salve tube! Contact me on 07857 613 562 or email pikku_karhu@karhuhome.f9.co.uk to make an order.
There are loads more excellent products in the full Pioneer range, so have a look at our website www.pioneerpersonalcare.com and don't forget that we're always happy to answer any questions & offer advice. We only use herbs that have a documented history of use of 50 years or more (the rule in the EU is min. 30 years). All our recipes, ingredients and descriptions have been scrutinised by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate at DEFRA (May 2009).
I will have a Product of the Month every month, and provide product information & special offers on this site, so please come back regularly to have look - and I hope to see many of you out and about this year!
